The importance of early diagnosis and symptoms that do not go in children and adolescents are warning signs for parents in the movie created by Repense Comunicação to the campaign for the the National Childhood Cancer Day, held on November 23 .

Creativity was the keyword for this script, since it is a campaign without production funding. "We chose for illustrations and a movie with animation draws parents' attention to this issue", said Vivian Fasca, planning and new business director of Repense.

The same movie, in versions with 15 and 30 seconds, will run at intervals of Globo schedule during the month of November. Besides the movie, the campaign is being spread on social media of all institutions. It's an initiative from Cancer Fondation, the Instituto Desiderata and the Brazilian Society of Pediatric Oncology (SOBOPE).

About child cancer

Although cancer is the leading cause of death by disease in the age group from 5 to 19 years old in Brazil, if diagnosed at an early stage, the chances of cure can reach 80%.

Instituto Nacional de Câncer (Inca) estimates that 11,840 new cases of infant-juvenile cancer will be registered in the population from zero to 18 years of age this year in Brazil. State of Rio de Janeiro should concentrate 10% of the total, with 1,100 occurrences in 2015.

United for the Cure

Cancer Foundation, Instituto Desiderata and Sobope are part of the (Unidos pela Cura) United for the Cure group formed by Unified Health System (SUS)'s managers, specialized services and civil society organizations, which closely monitors diagnostic issues, access and treatment in Rio de Janeiro. One of the group's goals, initiative of Instituto Desiderata, is to ensure the referral of children and adolescents with suspected cancer within 72 hours to clinical research, at the most appropriate location for each event.

To strengthen the discussions and draw attention to the National childhood cancer day, hospitals that are part of United for the Cure group will conduct various activities during this period, such as launching a booklet for parents and patients of children with cancer, discussion events, meeting of palliative care, among others.

In addition to activities in hospitals, Instituto Desiderata and Cancer Foundation launch the second edition of Panorama of Pediatric Oncology. The material is an effort to consolidate information on incidence and infrastructure for early diagnosis, prompt access and adequate treatment of children and young people with cancer in the state of Rio de Janeiro in order to monitor annually the pediatric oncology scene at the State.
